The Client's Need |
Our client is the #1 vendor of high-end film and video editing and special effects tools. In order to be innovative, the product managers, product designers and the 500-person software engineering team have a need to develop features that are based on evolving specifications. The behaviors and user interface can only be finalized once sufficient prototyping has been performed - this while the company needs to deliver reliable releases against a market driven timeline. SoftO2's task in this project was to set up an infrastructure that supports such a product development approach. |

What SoftO2 Provided |
Our approach was to elicit needs from stakeholders in both the marketing team, product design team and engineering team. We subsequently designed and implemented a pipeline of artefacts and information flows with clearly defined ownerships, validity time spans, feedback/review mechanisms, and facilities for managed changes to specifications during the coding and testing phase. SoftO2 thereby expanded the existing defect tracking tools to accomodate new artefacts, and built a wiki-based workspace that provided easy access to all data with drilldown facilities and a single collaboration environment for marketing and engineering staff. |

The Result |
The result of our work was a single, uninterrupted pipeline for marketing, product design, development and testing. Artefacts were defined and adopted in terms of ownerships, content and update mechanisms. And a tools environment allowed all stakeholders to work efficiently in one collaborative workspace. |
